I think St. James House is a wonderful place and the food is excellent. I’m a former R.N. and I really understand what good care is. Being here is so pleasant plus I’m getting to spend a lot of time reading which I love. My roommate’s spouse brought me a really good book to read. I’m 82 years old and being here is like having family close by.
We have lived here almost five years, and our experience with St. James House has been very satisfactory. The staff is friendly and helpful and has always taken care of our needs. The food is very good and reasonably priced, and the monthly rent for our apartment is within our budget. We’d recommend St. James House to anyone searching for a home in a Christian environment, as our spiritual needs are met and exceeded. Our children helped in our search for an acceptable place to live in Baytown and we all agreed Alexander Hall Apartments would best fit our needs. We made the right choice and consider St. James House to be the best place for us next to Heaven.
My mother has been living at St. James for over two years. She is very happy and likes it there. She says the food is good and everyone treats her well. We love the ladies who care for her, and they seem to really care and love her. We get calls anytime there is anything we need to know about, and the nurses are very friendly and helpful. Mother improved greatly when the house doctors got full control of her care. They seem to know better than your typical general practice doctors as to how to care for the elderly. There are activities provided all the time, and Mom can either participate or take a nap. Anytime she gets hungry between meals there are snacks available, and if she doesn’t like what they serve for any meal, there are alternatives. We are glad we brought her to St. James House.
We don’t have a regular time to visit Mom because we like to just show up and every time she is being well cared for. I’ve seen her yell at the staff and they are so patient and loving with her. I think her care at St. James House is perfect! Everyone knows her and speaks to her. Honestly, since she’s been here, her personality has changed. She’s sweeter. More importantly, Mom says she’s happy here.
My wife was a resident at St. James House and the care was excellent. Then my sister-in-law became a resident and again, her care was above reproach. Currently, a longtime friend is living in Alexander Hall Apartments and she loves living there.
Two years ago the end of October, it became obvious that my mother could no longer live at home. Putting her in St. James House was one of the hardest things that I have ever had to do. She has done so well here and the staff is very loving and caring. The facility is old, but don’t let that fool you. The building is not what makes the place, it is the caregivers. The grounds are lovely and the food is delicious. The people are friendly and you become a family. As hard as it is to accept this passage in life, the people at St. James House make it a pleasant transition.
The one thing I like most about St. James House is the people. Everyone is taking such good care of me. I’ve been here over a year and I really like it here. My family is very happy with how well I’m being cared for.
It is such a blessing to call St. James House home for our sister; she has been living here for over two years and absolutely loves it. I can truly say her life is richer because of the loving care and support that she receives from the St. James House family. I know I made the right decision when I toured the apartment side of St. James House. The staff at Alexander Hall were so helpful with the move and any other questions I had. I must admit it was a tough decision to leave my home, but I have several friends that live here. It’s security, fellowship and family. We have activities that keep us busy and church services that we attend. I’m glad it’s a faith based organization. I would recommend St. James House and Alexander Hall Apartments to anyone that may want security for their family member. I have no intentions of leaving because now this is home.
My husband has been a resident of St. James House for almost five years. Our son did extensive research along with visits to various facilities before the decision was made to have him reside at SJH. On our visit we found SJH to be clean, welcoming and with smiling personnel. We have since found it to be a loving and kind place for our loved one.I would have liked a facility more convenient to where we live, but the large and beautiful oak tree shaded grounds and welcoming front porch with rocking chairs won us over.
I love the 24 hour attention they give my father. The staff is always there to help him with anything. They also keep me informed of any changes. My father is so happy here.
They take such good care of me and I don’t want to leave. The thing I like most about being here is the people. My daughter really likes that I’m here because it gives her peace of mind.
